•When a carbon current collector sliding against a metallic counter-face, a protective film (Patina) is formed on contact area. This film can help to suppress arcing, increase service like and provide shielding of counter-face material. Plain carbon strip can be impregnated with metal for high load application. Similarly, carbon contacts which use hard-carbon material for low load application and metal graphite material for high load application.
